26 August – Turkish state terror attacks on Yazidi Autonomous Region & Mariem Hassan, 1958-22 August 2015 and more

In the last fortnight Turkey has unleashed a new wave of unprovoked attacks on the Yazidi people of the Sinjar Autonomous Region in northern Iraq. On 17th of August an aerial assault destroyed the hospital in Sikeniye village, killing 8. Among the dead were 4 members of the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBŞ) as well as doctors and staff of the hospital. The previous day YBŞ commander Seid Hesen was assassinated by a drone strike on his vehicle near the cities busy central bazaar. The bombing also killed 2 other YBŞ members as well as injuring several passersby. Despite these attacks being a gross violation of Iraqi sovereignty there has been barely a wimper of complaint from the international community, while the half heated bleet of condemnation from prime minister Al Kadhimi showed Iraqs willing subservience to Ankara. In solidarity with both the Yazidi and wider Kurdish struggle against Turkish fascism we played several inspiring songs of resistance from the region, all of them recent releases. We also played a track to honor the womyn who suffered at the hands of Daesh, whose onslaught began in August 7 years ago, a song denouncing Erdogans ultra misogynist decision to withdraw from the convention against violence towards womyn, ironically known as the Istanbul convention, a track for the International week of solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners, and a great bracket of songs by the West Saharan protest singer Mariem Hassan who died in August 2015 Below is the playlist, some tracks with video links:
